Day 15, Sydney, Australia, February 16, 2009

Today is still cloudy and rainy and the forecast is for more of the same with heavy rain tomorrow. The cold weather has been great for walking around but not good for a beach day. We were looking forward to going body surfing at Bondi but in light of the three shark sightings at the beaches yesterday and one at Bondi, if we were to hit the beach, we may be the only ones in the water.

Tonight we will be going to the Excelsior Hotel to play at the regular Monday night open stage run by a former Canadian from Calgary. I played there a few times in 2006 and met some folks that I have kept in touch with through MySpace. Bronnie Ware and her cousin Steve Platt are making a special trip into Sydney from different points to meet me there. Both Bronnie and Platty, as he is known) have some fab original songs about Australia.

A patch of blue sky appeared so we decided to prepare a picnic and go on the Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach ocean walk which takes in Tamarama Beach, Bronte Beach, Clovelly Beach, and Gordons Bay. It also crosses spectacular Waverley Cemetery which is positioned on a prime oceanfront cliff. It was a windy day and the 4-6 foot waves on the beaches were very messy and were not safe for swimming but good for some snaps.
